The Democratic National Convention (DNC) concluded, but as rumored, there were no performances by Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
While performances by Pink and John Legend enamoured the audience, they were, however, disappointed by the absence of Beyonce and Swift.
The event’s highlight was a speech by Kamala Harris, and organizers stated that there was no celebrity performance to keep the focus on the elections.
No Beyonce Or Taylor Swift At DNC
The hype that Beyonce or Taylor Swift would be the DNC’s special guest tonight built up as the days passed by.
Speculations were high that there would be some high-profile, musical special guests who would grace the event.
The news website TMZ further added credence to the rumours when it confirmed the attendance of Grammy-winning artist Beyonce at the event.
It stated that the singer would perform on the fourth and final day of the Convention.
The Republican nominee for the presidential polls, Kamala Harris, was also scheduled to address the crowd and Democratic delegates present at the United Center.
TMZ even went a step ahead and stated that Chicago police were “on high alert” and had been “involved in security” with Beyonce’s anticipated attendance.
Delegates even wore the trademark popular accessory from the singer’s Renaissance tour, the rhinestone or mirrored cowboy hats.
However, after Kamala Harris delivered her acceptance speech, several media houses started publishing reports that Beyonce was never supposed to attend the event.
They even cited Beyonce’s planner, which never mentioned any participation.
Beyoncé, however, expressed her support for the Harris campaign and even allowed them to use her song “Freedom.”
While, on the other hand, Beyoncé’s team did not allow Donald Trump’s campaign advertisement to feature the same song and threatened them with a cease-and-desist order.
There were also rumours that Taylor Swift would be attending the DNC and performing.
The rumours found credence after a short commercial ad; a DJ at the DNC played Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” inside the United Center.
This fanned the rumour that the pop sensation might make an appearance tonight. It also turned out to be false news.
As per CNN, Democratic Party sources have categorically stated that their ‘special guest’ was Kamala Harris only, and they never wanted any other celebrity to perform and overshadow the seriousness of the elections.
Many netizens were angered by the faux pas and even alleged that the whole drama was created to increase attendance.
