Report: One in four women face gender disparity in India’s BFSI sector

New Delhi, April 12 (IANS) – A recent report by Great Place To Work India revealed that every fourth woman working in India’s banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector has experienced gender disparity in terms of recognition, fair pay, and workplace equity. The report gathered insights from over 12 lakh employees in 167 organizations within the BFSI sector.

Female employees in the BFSI sector were found to be 5 per cent less satisfied with workplace equity compared to their male counterparts. The report also highlighted a shift in priorities among Gen Z and millennial employees, with a focus on seeking meaningful work and a sense of impact within their roles.

Furthermore, the report identified a decline in employee perception within the BFSI sector, particularly in fintech, health and general insurance, and investment verticals. The most significant decline was observed among millennial and Gen Z managers early in their tenure, emphasizing the need for targeted strategies to address challenges specific to each demographic group.
